If you’ve been reading my blog, following me on Facebook or Instagram, then you KNOW I have been working hard on all things bridal! I have 3 weddings within 1 month…one of them is my brother’s, one is a great friend from work, and another is one of my childhood best friend’s (I’m a bridesmaid in that wedding). My mom asked me to help with décor for this shower, since it was a smaller, more intimate gathering for my brother and his fiancée that was going to be held at my mom’s house. Of course, I had a lot of fun planning and executing the decorations! We chose to have a predominantly white color scheme, and my mom wanted to use her grandmother’s china, so we chose to go with elegant touches for the day.
We all sat down to eat a catered meal, and we were split up between 3 rooms (kitchen, dining room, sun room). I decided to decorate each one differently, but to keep the “elegant white” theme going through all of the rooms.
Here’s the dining room:
We saved old bottles for a few weeks, and I gave them a coat of spray paint (some off-white, and some pure white). We used a pitcher we already had with some white roses from the florist, plus some little candles my mom had leftover from MY wedding shower over 4 years ago.
Here’s the sun room:
Do you recognize that mirrored centerpiece? I blogged about it over a year ago – it was a thrift store piece that I re-painted. Those birds are constantly moved around my house (originally from Michaels clearance) and I use them in many of my mantels. We added some of my mom’s crystal candle holders she already owned, but we bought new candles from Michaels.
Finally, the kitchen:
I’m kind of in love with this trough I made (tutorial here)! As much as we would’ve loved to fill it with fresh flowers, these fake flowers from Michaels were an investment, because we are now using the piece in my mother’s living room (make-over post here)!
In the family room, my mom had the great idea to have people bring their wedding albums, so we displayed them around the family room (where the presents were opened).
Of course we had the now famous coffee filter flower hanging above where they opened their presents:
I put my fluffy coffee filter wreath on the other side of the family room:
We added little touches around the place once the caterer set up their food. If you’re in PA – check out Social Tea Catering – they’re amazing!
Of course, once people started arriving, there was no more time to take pictures of the things that were around, but we got some great pictures of the beautiful people at the shower too!
The whole group:
The bride & groom-to-be:
My beautiful grandmothers:
My mom, sister & I:
And finally a good one of me & my hubby!
It was a lot of fun to decorate for the shower, but it was also a lot of work! I was so glad once everyone got to the shower and we could just have *fun*!
Have you decorated for bridal showers? Do you have fun DIY projects to share?
