Come see the details of our budget friendly banquette makeover – and get ideas for how you can add character and charm into your home with a few simple changes!
Well this was honestly such a fun makeover!
The other day, I talked about how I planned on doing a smaller banquette makeover in this space in our home. My goals?
- add charm and character with simple budget friendly additions
- freshen up the space with some new paint (that would hopefully hide food messes better)
- Do it for under $200
- not spend a ton of time on this makeover
Did this banquette makeover meet those requirements?
I am so happy to report that I did exactly that! This makeover was simple, didn’t take a ton of time OR money. The paint color I chose for the bottom of the banquette will hopefully be better for hiding kid (and food) dirt.
As you can see in these pictures, this space is really central in our home. It’s a very visual spot that you can see from most spaces in our home, so it makes a big impact now that I did this makeover on it!
I worked with Tuesday Morning on my Instagram page (they’re not paying me to write this blog post though) to style the shelves and bench. I just love those large checked pillows! Can you believe I got them for $17 each?
Vintage inspired art:
I printed out some free prints I sourced from the New York Public Library free image selector. I’m putting them in my free printable library – so you can access them (without having to do all the searching I went through!). What I love about this makeover most:
I think the addition of the shelf is my favorite part of this makeover! It’s SO SIMPLE – literally just a piece of pine board from Lowe’s (I used a 1×8) and some brackets I found on Amazon. Click the image below to shop the brackets I bought:
Also – the fact that I spray painted my chairs dark! I know some people get mad when we paint over wood, but these were chairs I bought 4 years ago. They certainly weren’t heirloom pieces! I am REALLY happy with how the spray paint covered the chairs. I sealed them with Polycrylic and have been so happy with them so far!

Hey guys – can I ask for your help? If you liked this makeover, would you be able to pin one or two images from this post? This helps you save it for later but also helps to share my content with others. And that’s the way I can keep showing up here and providing free content here! I appreciate you more than you know!!

Love it all Christina! Especially the paint color you chose… is it 50% lightened Sticks and Stones? It looks great with black accents! 🖤🖤🖤

Ah I don’t think I ever said which paint color we used!! I tried that color and would love to use it other places but ended up picking SW “Collonade Gray” for this space instead.

Christina, you are going to get me fired!!! I start with one of your posts and just keep goings. SO MANY GOOD IDEAS. You have such a great knack at renovating/decorating but still nothing too crazy that we can’t do for ourselves. I LOVE IT. Thanks so much for all the clear instructions. Now, I must get back to work so I can make money to go do some of these projects. Hee Hee. Keep up the Great Posts. I really enjoy following you.
