Come along with me as I gather beach house decorating ideas for a fun project I’m working on!
I have a fun project that I’m getting to be a small part of! My parents are purchasing a small condo at the Jersey Shore as a retirement investment, and have asked me to help redecorate it with them.
At first, I was just going to work on it with them, but I realized that some of these ideas could help you as well! So I’m going to be sharing the process/ideas here as we go too.
The condo is currently in good condition, but definitely stuck in the “early 2000’s Tuscan inspired decor” theme. We’re hoping to redecorate it, and make it into a cozy coastal retreat.
While coastal decor isn’t my typical personal decorating style, it’s definitely one to embrace when you’re decorating a beach condo! But we want to do it in a cozy and classy way. I’m excited to get started!
Here’s what we’re looking for when purchasing items for this condo:
- items that will give the renters a positive experience
- ie: good mattress, comfortable couch, ample storage
- furniture that will wear well through renters
- durable pieces that will stand up to heavy use
Beach house decorating: family room decor options
With all of those things in mind, plus a calming coastal beachy color scheme, I put together these three mood board options. I found a LOT of great budget friendly pieces in here that would work for any family or living room, not just at a beach rental!

I’m excited to get started – with delays in getting furniture delivered, we’re going to try to get started on this sooner rather than later. There’s also a good chance that we will not be decorating until the fall, but I hope you stick around and follow on social media where I’ll be sharing details of this makeover as well!
If you’re looking for some more coastal decorating ideas (along with paint colors to try) make sure you read through this post too!
I have always loved all of your post.
I’ve missed seeing them
I love all three of these moods boards, especially the couch in #1 and the round ottoman and chair in #2 with those MCM vibes.
So excited to see what you do, friend!
I like the rug in option 1, and I think a teal blue sofa would be really pretty with it. The beach would be a great place to play with lots of color!
