Time for a spring porch refresh – sharing some of the best budget friendly curb appeal ideas! Thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this post. As always, opinions are always 100% my own. Affiliate links are included in this post.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that we’ve been working hard at upping our curb appeal on a budget with some DIY projects.
So far, we have:
- power washed
- painted shutters + doors
- installed new lighting
And now we’re finally ready to accessorize! After setting the foundation for a new look with those previous steps, this is the fun part.
Since we’re spending most of our outdoor budget on our vegetable garden this year, I wanted to be mindful to not spend outside of our budget for this project. Thankfully, Walmart has some CUTE things right now that were perfect for upping our curb appeal!
Curb appeal refresh idea 1: add plants
If you know me at all, then you know that I love plants. Indoor plants, vegetable gardens, herb gardens, window boxes…all the plants!
So of course a big part of making our front porch look great was to add some plants. I don’t know if you’ve shopped for large planters lately, but they can be so expensive! I was so happy to find these (faux) stone-look large planters from Walmart. They’re a nice large substantial size, and they’re the perfect neutral and textured piece to add to your front porch.
Curb appeal refresh idea 2: outdoor throw pillows
Another simple way to add some easy curb appeal on a budget? Add some outdoor throw pillows!
It can’t get much easier than that, but often times people overlook this idea. We personally put ours on our front area that has an overhang, so they’re not directly exposed to harsh elements. I loved these pillows I got this year – they’re perfect for cozying up with the kids and reading a book. And they tie in the new black accents on our exterior so well.
Curb appeal refresh idea 3: add dimension and layers
One of those things that we enjoy looking at in our inspiration images on Pinterest, but don’t always follow through with in our own home: layers!
Adding height and layers to your front porch area keeps things visually interesting and exciting. It keeps our eyes moving through the space, and helps add dimension to a space that can typically be a little more flat.
I personally love using small furniture pieces like this little table I bought to add dimension and height to a space. They’re so versatile and it’s always a good idea to have a little end table around!
Curb appeal refresh idea 4: add high contrast colors
You can do this with plants, with planters, pillows – it doesn’t matter! But when you’re selecting pieces for your porch, it really helps to add some high contrast pieces. These look striking against your home, and give it that “wow” factor. It helps from things fading into the background of your home.
