Kids bedroom with bunk beds

Come on in and see our kids bedroom with bunk beds – with deep blue walls and a star/sky theme!

This room has been a long time coming!

When we moved into this house, our girls moved into this shared bedroom. They weren’t ready to have bunk beds at that time, and honestly haven’t been ready for the last few years. But this year when I asked if they would consider bunk beds, it was a resounding YES!

We began to plan their bedroom makeover (I shared a bunch of this on my Instagram) after narrowing it down from a lot of creative ideas, we finally came up with a “star/sky” theme for their bedroom. They knew they wanted blue walls, to be like the sky, but not TOO dark blue. But definitely not light blue. No clouds, but yes stars. And pastel colors against all of that.

Whew. I was not quite sure what that was going to turn out to look like, but I was going to try to make it look cute. And I’m SO happy with how it all turned out!

 

The bunk bed we chose

I was gifted a Max & Lily bunk bed for this makeover, and I really enjoyed partnering with this company. Their beds are SOLID. They’re solid wood and really really well constructed. They are able to keep their quality pieces lower by having you construct the bed at your house. It took my husband a solid 7 hours to build the bed, but the instructions were clear and it moved along. He had to build the twin bed, the double bed underneath, the stairs, and I built the drawers. While it was a lot of pieces, the process was not difficult, just time consuming.

Funny story – we’re actually not finished with this room yet! This side is finished (and obviously all the major parts, painting, etc.) but we still have another project to do on the other side of the room! Any ideas? Leave them in the comments – and follow me on Instagram to see what we do!
