I’m so excited to share this update with you because we’re getting so much closer to being done with the kitchen! It’s been a few months, and we’re so ready to be done! Follow me on Instagram for many more progress pics (look at #christinaskitchenremodel to see how far we’ve come!!)
We have backsplash!! We went with basic white subway tile for a few reasons.
First of all – it’s really inexpensive. Second- it’s classic and not too trendy. We used gray grout so we didn’t have to worry about white grout looking dirty or getting stained.
I posted about our countertops here– and now they’re stained & sealed!! I love love love how they turned out!!
We used the same stain that we used on our open pantry shelves and sealed it with Waterlox (affiliate links- click on the pictures to be brought to product details)
We had to stay with my family for almost a week while we put the Waterlox sealer on – it stunk up our house! BUT the results are beautiful & it was totally worth it
In other big news- we now have a plank wall above our sink!!
We installed the tongue in groove planks ourselves, and then put quarter round molding in the corners & crown molding on the top to fill the gap:
Now it just needs caulk, paint & shelves
We still have this unfinished mess smack dab in the middle of the room – this will be the last big thing to finish!
We’re getting so much closer to a finished kitchen, but we still have things like industrial glue and hammers next to our dishes. At least they have a prettier backdrop now!
Things that still need to get done:
-
Finish plank wall
-
Install shelving on plank wall
-
Lighting fixture
-
Cover pipes
-
Touch up paint
-
Put the pulls on cabinets

I hope that the next post about our kitchen is the final post!! I can’t wait to share the full reveal with all of you!
