One of the things I love about our house is that we have an old-fashioned mailbox by the door on our front porch. This means we have an old-fashioned mailman who works really hard walking all around the neighboring areas in all kinds of weather. You know, the kind of mailman with a satchel and everything. There’s just something so old-fashioned about it, and I really love it!!
I also feel sad when I see him trekking to all of the mailboxes in terribly cold weather. Last year, I had the idea to give him a practical gift – nice gloves (those tech-friendly ones) with hand warmers for those frigid mornings. Here’s my fun mailman gift idea:
He loved it! I thought you might be interested in something thoughtful & practical for your mail carrier too – you can get the pieces for the present easily here (affiliate links)

Many years ago I was a mail carrier, perhaps I can lend a few tips.
Mail carriers must have their fingers free to finger through the mail-sort it as such. So only fingerless gloves. Also-hand warmers are great but would only be used on breaks as they are kept moving at a fast pace. They could place them inside of a fingerless glove, but may become cumbersome. I suggest food gift cards from somewhere close to where you live (on their route) Healthy snacks, power bars etc. Fruit, waters, Sunscreen , hand lotion, manicures of the women (our hands look like truckers!) and of course cash. Mail carriers are so grateful when remembered-so, really anything is much appreciated.
Thanks so much for the great first-hand information, Sandy! It’s really appreciated – I actually got him fingerless gloves this year 🙂 I love the other suggestions too – thanks!! 🙂
