Upping our curb appeal one project at a time! Today I’m sharing the best budget friendly outdoor lights – and how you can get a “splurge” look for a lot less. Affiliate links included – full disclosure here.
It’s that time of year! When we take our focus off of the inside of our homes and start spending so much of our days outside. And of course, while I’m outside, I’m naturally looking for things to update easily (and things that won’t cost a fortune either).
While we have some bigger outdoor projects planned for the coming years, we don’t quite have the budget to do them for a little while. Our vegetable garden is getting the majority of our budgeted money this summer, but I’m still planning on doing some smaller budget friendly upgrades to our exterior this summer!
One of those things? Updating our front “porch” area. It’s really not a porch, but we’ll call it that for lack of a better term. What I’d love to do for phase 1 of making over this front door area:
If you follow me on Instagram, I’ll be sharing this space as I make it over! It’s going to be fun to add some more character to our entry and take it from “tired” to “welcoming” …and make it feel like us!
**note: eventually I want to paint the house, build our own wooden shutters, build window boxes, etc. BUT this is phase one. And those changes in the picture up there are things that are possible while we’re working on a larger project in our garden this summer.
Let’s start with the easiest part of that plan – replacing the existing light fixture!
Searching for budget friendly outdoor light fixtures:
When I started looking for outdoor light fixtures I liked, I was slightly discouraged. I had budgeted $100 for this small portion of the project, and realized that was going to be trickier than I thought. Here’s what I was looking for:
- Substantial size
- Great shape/design
- Amazing reviews
After the initial sticker shock of some light fixtures out there (😳 ) I did some more digging. I found that there ARE affordable outdoor lights which fit what was on my list, but I needed to search harder for them.
So today, I’m sharing the results of my search with you! This way, you don’t have to spend hours scouring the internet for lighting.
Hooray for increased curb appeal (on an affordable budget!)
UPDATED TO ADD:
Here’s the light we picked! We went with a simple choice that complimented our (newly painted) black shutters and door frame. I love how simple it is 😊

Outdoor lights under $100:
Here’s my favorite lights I found that are under $100, have great reviews, and would be a great addition to any home’s exterior. Simply click on each picture to be brought to the product page to purchase/read reviews.
Splurge vs. Save outdoor lights:
Since we don’t all have a ton of expendable income for things like outdoor lighting – I figured I’d share some “splurge vs. save” options for you. Obviously if you have the money to spend, these “splurge” items are beautiful! I’m sure they have been made with higher quality materials and could possibly last longer than the “save” options. BUT – if it’s just not financially wise for you to spend money on more expensive outdoor lighting, then don’t fear! There’s so many options for more budget friendly options that can give you a similar look for less.
Find the “splurge” here // Buy the “save” here (and here is another incredibly similar budget friendly option!)

I hope that gives you some good ideas for outdoor lighting – and proves that you don’t have to spend a fortune to update your lighting on a budget! There’s so many affordable light fixtures out there – you just have to search for them a little bit.
