*If you’re a reader of my blog, I really value your input, so I made a survey about what you want/don’t want on this blog in 2012. Please take 1 minute to complete the survey (there’s a give-away along with it!) 🙂 *
I am SO excited to share this make-over with you…because it has taken me over SIX MONTHS to finish it! Yikes! I bought an ugly brass-y lamp base from ReStore in May 2011…I primed & painted it…and then we moved. And it sat in our closet until January 2012.
Welllll…at least it’s done, right?! And I *love* how it turned out:
I am in *love* with ruffles AND lace, so this is so totally “me”! My husband told me that when ruffles and lace go out of style I’ll need to buy a whole new wardrobe – I’m totally dreading that day 🙁
Here’s how I did it:
I picked up the lamp base for $4 from ReStore.
Then I used fabric from my “stash”, as you know, I loooove my neutrals:
I then hot-glued the fabric strips directly onto a $2 lampshade (also from ReStore). There was not a science to this, I just tried to make them about the same width.
I did a white/tan stripe pattern. I put the tan stripes directly under the bottom of the white stripes. I did this until the lampshade was covered:
But then I wanted to add a little “oomph” to it – so I added the lace between each layer. I only let a little bit of the bottom of the lace show through:
I added it to my craft space – and I’m in love with the result! It’s a perfect girly addition to my girly stenciled desk:
I also moved the magnetic board that I made so it was hanging vertically rather than horizontally. I love the new look!
What do you think? Are you as obsessed with ruffles as I am!?
