It’s officially wedding season! We’re getting down to the final days before my sister’s wedding- can’t wait to share the pictures from her big day!
The wedding décor may or may not include this rustic wood monogram:
It’s seriously simple to make – I promise!
First, I made a monogram in the font I liked in iPiccy. I then uploaded it to Staples Copy & Print online, and I ordered an engineering print (they’re really big & printed on thin paper – cost less than $2):
I measured out how big I wanted to sign to be, and took a trip to my local hardware store. I had them cut down pine boards to the size I wanted (mine were 21 inches long). I then added some scrap wood to the back with nails and wood glue. I stained it with my favorite stain (more details here)
Then I went to Michael’s and got some new Sharpie paint markers – they’ve got a ton of colors, but I only wanted black for this project:
I used this technique to mark where I wanted the paint on the wood:
The last time I used this technique, I used a thin paint brush. Using paint pens was SO much easier!!
That’s it!
I think it’s going to look great as part of her rustic wedding décor:
I think it’ll look great in their apartment too! I might make one for myself…
If you want to make one too, look for sales on Sharpie paint markers at Michael’s!

Beautiful work!
Well done! This is a great addition to any home, cheers!
Beautiful job, Cristina!
The monogram is beautiful! Who knew it could be so simple! Pinning to share and to keep for myself so that I can make my own.
This turned out great!
That is soo awesome. Great job.
This is so pretty! I’m going to have to make one for my hubby and I. And those paint markers look like they make things a lot easier. I recently did a project where I used a small paintbrush and it took FOREVER. I’ll have to try these next time. Have a great day!
