Updated to add: we installed wood ceilings in our DIY farmhouse kitchen makeover and we LOVE THEM! Click through to see how beautiful they look!
I’ll be completely honest: I’ve never really given much thought to ceilings. BUT…we have some pretty awful ceilings in our new home. And it’s got me thinking of how I could possibly cover them up. I’ve kind of been loving wood ceilings lately. We have tall ceilings in the new house, and this will draw your eyes all the way up. There’s just something so cozy and unique about wood up there – it really brings instant warmth to a space!
When I started looking into wood ceilings, I realized there are LOTS of ways to make it happen! Here’s some of my favorite ways to add a wood ceiling to your home…
Traditional wood:
Weathered Wood:
Wood ceilings with white trim
White planking with wood beams:
I can’t say I love one of these wood ceiling styles more than the other – they’re all SO beautiful!
Help me out – which one is your favorite? Would you ever consider adding a wood ceiling to your home?

I love these, and would love to have enough space so that some of the larger beams and darker planks wouldn’t overwhelm our space. We’re going to be putting up a smaller version of the white planking with beams – using white beadboard and small natural-wood molding pieces, maybe in some of the reclaimed mahogany planking we’ve been salvaging over the past year. I like the larger amount of white with dark accents in that combo!
