We like to show pretty things on our blogs. It’s not fun to talk about the things that don’t look picture perfect. BUT – we live in very imperfect houses that aren’t always pretty. And that needs to be talked about too!
One of those places? My bathroom. Whomp whomp whomp. It’s really not pretty. We took down the wallpaper border that came with the house, replaced the shower curtain, took down the dusty rose window treatment…and that’s it. It’s not horrible, but it hasn’t been updated at all yet. Someday it will, but it’s definitely not today!
In the meantime, I’ve got to take care of what I’ve got. I know no one wants to talk about it, but did you know that literally 100% of bathrooms have mold growing in them? So don’t feel gross if you do too. Again- no one wants to talk about it, but everyone’s got to deal with it!
I’ve got another confession to make: I’m a terrible cleaner. Seriously. I have gotten better with vacuuming since last fall, but I’m really terrible about keeping up with cleaning our bathrooms regularly. I know, I know – that’s horrible. But I’m being honest with you guys – if it requires scrubbing and slaving away, I’m probably not going to do it regularly.
So what’s a girl to do with a bathroom that has mold (like everyone else’s) and an aversion to scrubbing? Say hello to my new best friend:
This stuff is heavy-duty. It’s not messing around. AND it’s seriously the easiest thing to use ever. I feel silly even telling you how to use it.
Here it goes:
1. Spray
2. Wait 5 minutes
3. Come back & check to see if the mold/mildew is gone
4. If the spot is clean, just rinse it & you’re done. If it’s not, repeat the process one more time – then rinse & you’re done.
Oh, notice what’s missing? THE SCRUBBING. That I avoid at all costs. Yep – that’s enough to win me over. But it actually works!! Here’s the before & after in our bathroom (after 2 “spray cycles”):
It’s still a very old shower/tub, but it’s a mold free shower/tub after using this Tilex® Mold & Mildew remover <– check out their site to see what products would work out best for your space!
By the way – did you know that soaps & detergents don’t actually kill the mold ever when they may take the mold stains away? Yep, gross. Thankfully Tilex® Mold & Mildew remover contains Clorox so it kills 99.9% of mold & mildew on hard, non-porous surfaces.
