My experience with the free design consultation at the Floor & Decor store and what they offer! This post is sponsored by Floor & Decor – all opinions are always 100% my own.
One of the things I love AND loathe about living in a fixer upper is the fact that we will never truly be “done”. On one hand, it lets me get creative and have a constant canvas to work on, but on the other hand, a lot of our free time (and our budget) is taken up by house projects.
I have a space in my home that is the next “big project”. I haven’t shared it with you guys because, well, it’s ugly. We’re not financially ready to take on this big project yet, but we’d love to start planning, saving, and dreaming about this space!
So that’s our dream – we can’t wait!! I know it will look beautiful – someday! Butttt are you ready to see what it currently looks like? It’s slightly embarrassing!
Yeah – so…it’ll be a little while until we get this room looking like our inspiration! But that’s all part of the journey of living in a fixer upper, right?
Before we take on any big project, we like to have the finances in place first. We don’t like to spend above our means, and we pay for things in cash as we’re able. To do this, we need a clear picture of what a project will truly cost before we start it.
The project of making over our mudroom area is a big one, and the first thing we would have to do is install new flooring. Since we like to save up, we needed to get an estimate for the flooring project so we knew how much to put aside. I heard that Floor & Decor had FREE design services, and I set up an appointment with my local store.
It was so simple! I was able to make the appointment online from the comfort of my own home, and I uploaded current pictures, inspiration pictures, and dimensions of my room all on their website. I received a phone call from Tyshiana before my appointment, and she went over any questions I had.
Once I got to the store, I was greeted by Tyshiana. She showed me around the store and – WOW. Let me tell you, I was really honestly impressed! If this wasn’t a sponsored post, I promise I would say the same exact thing. I wish I had known about this store when we had made choices earlier in our home renovation journey!
This is the tile I fell in love with – isn’t it beautiful?

The really helpful thing that they offer are free design consultations. The designer from Floor & Decor takes your inspiration pictures, budget, and current space into consideration and helps to walk you through a design plan. I loved these “inspiration stations” where you could actually play with different tiles/flooring to get a feel for the room you’d be designing. For visual learners like me, it was so helpful!
And while the designer had a vision in mind, it was easy to talk with her and take things out of the design/add things in as you see them around their showroom (their store is HUGE by the way, so there’s so much to choose from!)
I also really loved that the store had large flooring displays throughout their store. Sometimes it’s hard to guess how a tile/flooring will look when it’s in a bigger space, so they have provided many large format displays in lots of different flooring and tile styles so you can help to visualize them in your home. Not only that, but they have many room scenes in their store that use their most popular tile and flooring styles so you can see how they look in a real room. I was so impressed by these!
I picked out a beautiful luxury vinyl tile for my design plan, and I fell in love with this patterned tile to pair with it for under our washer/dryer. How beautiful would this look together? It’s so helpful to have a plan that I love, so now I can excitedly save up for this project! I wish that flooring was the only thing involved with this room because if it was, I would have signed a contract right then and there. The flooring & tile price was SO reasonable – I was honestly shocked by how low the price was! Floor & Decor prides themselves on their low prices for high quality pieces – and if you find their products a lower price at a big box store, they’ll price match it for you! The other part I loved was that their flooring/tiles are all in stock, so you wouldn’t have to wait to start your project (any other impatient renovators out there?)
(Look! They even have brick veneer!)

I love Floor and Decor! They just opened one here in Concord, NC maybe 6 months ago or so. We’ve already purchased our bathroom tile there and plan on purchasing our wood floor there when we’re ready.
They have everything! Even down to granite or quartz countertops!! ???
I love the tile you picked out. I can’t wait to see your room after it’s all finished! ???
