I was struggling with what to do for my Christmas wreath this year, and then one day I came home to a fresh greenery swag from my mom! I decided this would be a perfect time to ditch the wreath idea, and use the swag for a door decoration instead. I just added some embellishments, and here is my fresh decorated greenery swag:
I’m really loving it! It’s a welcome change from the traditional wreath. My mom bought it for a little more than $5 from a local farm like this:
I strung up some Dollar Store ornaments (leftover from the centerpieces) on some jute:
and then I tied the jute around the greenery towards the top. I then made a simple bow out of burlap because I. LOVE. BURLAP. and I use it any chance I can get 🙂 Then I made a doily ornament for the middle (tutorial here!):
I just love how it looks when you come in the door now! 🙂
Since my mom gifted me with the swag, she asked if I could make hers pretty too! She wanted a red ribbon in hers, so this is what I came up with for her door (hers is hanging inside the house):
Have you ever used fresh greenery in place of a wreath?
