BEYOND excited to share my front porch makeover – this wraparound porch on our fixer upper is finally done! See the new outdoor space today – thanks to POLYWOOD for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
Oh friends – this makeover has been a LONG time coming. Let’s start at the beginning.
When we bought this fixer upper in 2014, the porch was one of the first things we worked on. We knew the floorboards needed to be replaced, but we didn’t realize that the joists underneath, the railings, AND the columns all needed to be replaced too. Wow – the very first project on our fixer upper ended up blowing our budget out of the water!!
So – it sat unfinished for a few years. We didn’t want to put any more time or money into this porch!! We had enough projects to do on the inside…and we also had two babies in the meantime – so we were a little busy! Ha!
BUT this summer we vowed we’d finally finish this wraparound porch that was one of the things we LOVED about the house when we bought it. And today I’m so excited to share the final space with you!
Oh man – this was a labor of love but we are SO in love with our “new” porch!
I already wrote a whole post about how we refinished our side porch – so if you want details of how we prepped the space & stained it, then read this post (we finished them both exactly the same way). But today’s all about the finishing touches!
This porch makeover was overdue:
Our previous porch furniture was pretty sad. We had wood rockers that we loved when we first got them, but they weathered terribly!! They were all peeling and looked so sad. I sold them on Facebook marketplace (and other people were super happy to refinish them!). I knew that I didn’t want to replace that furniture with other wood pieces that would look bad in just a few years again.
Why we love POLYWOOD:
When POLYWOOD reached out to me and asked to partner with their brand, I did my research first. I was so impressed by this company, I just had to say yes! The things I REALLY love about POLYWOOD are…
- Their furniture is made out of recycled milk jugs
- POLYWOOD recycles an average of 400,000 milk jugs a day! Crazy!
- POLYWOOD furniture has a 20 year warranty.
- This is the one that floored me – incredible!!
We originally had rocking chairs out here, and at this stage of life…that wasn’t the best fit for us. I love the look of rocking chairs, but I REALLY love having a little bit of room to snuggle with my kiddos on the porch. This set was a much better fit for our family – we’ve already been out here so many times reading books, talking to neighbors, and making s’mores together.
POLYWOOD has an outdoor furniture planner which is a quiz that helps you find out what type of furniture would fit your space, based on your dimensions, style, and how you envision yourself using your space. The POLYWOOD outdoor furniture planner was super helpful for us when we were trying to rethink our front porch. We realized we could use a larger deep seating set and separate the 5-pieces to create two seating areas, so it would fit well on our wraparound porch. If you’re considering outdoor furniture, their quiz is a great place to start!
We chose the “Vineyard 5-Piece Deep Seating Set” and couldn’t be happier with it. It’s incredibly comfortable, well made, and looks so beautiful on our porch! We love the colors we chose too (they have SO many to choose from! The lumber is the color “teak” and the cushions are “antique beige”).
We honestly love every single inch of our front porch and are so happy with this porch makeover now that we have truly finished it – I am so thankful for POLYWOOD for helping us to put the finishing touches in place! One of the last big pieces of our fixer upper is finally finished!
