We have been spending what seems like every waking minute getting this house ready for move-in day, and we’re exhausted!
Here’s an update on a huge part of the house: the FLOORS.
When we originally pulled up the carpet in the corners of the rooms, we were so excited to see hardwood floors underneath. They looked like they were in awesome condition, and we thought, “Hey – we could just rent a buffer for a day, buff the floors, and polyurethane/oil them & they’ll be perfect!”
Ha.
Not so much.
When my sweet husband finished pulling up all of the carpets, this is what we found underneath:
Oh. Oh boy. Not what we expected at all. Suddenly our thoughts of “oh this won’t be a big deal” absolutely changed.
See how the outside edge looks awesome? That’s what we pulled the carpet off of at first– but we couldn’t see what was just a few feet away…
Since we have a deadline of um- a week– we panicked a little bit. We called many flooring guys who were recommended to us, but we were nervous about having to pay too much and still not being able to get it done in time.
God was watching out for us – and provided us with a local man who is going on vacation next week, so he took this week as an “easy week”, and he agreed to do the job for us! And he quoted us a really fair price that we’re able to afford – we’re so thankful!!
So let’s take one last look at the “before” pictures – we won’t be able to see the finished product until moving day!!

Since we can’t be in the house this week, we are spending all week PACKING. Wish us luck – can’t wait to share our next pictures of the house!!

How lucky that you guys found a guy to do it for you!
Now you can just focus on packing and getting everything ready. 🙂 Packing is the WORST part of moving. yuck!
Can’t wait to see your next update when you guys are all moved in – I bet those floors will look gorgeous by then!
