In the spirit of spring, I sported a fun hair clip to work today…and I don’t think it will be the last time I do this:
Even though people at work didn’t believe me, you CAN make this easily! Here’s how:
Start with these supplies:
The flower “petals” on the bottom right are made like how I made these flowers (click for the tutorial on how to burn the fabric). I just used more layers this time to make it more “dramatic”.
Once I got all of the supplies together, I started to sew the pieces together, and sew the pearls on at the same time:
Just sew from the back, string a pearl on, and sew very closely to the entry stitch:
Once you get the desired amount of pearls or beads in the middle, close up the stitch on the back:
Then, I cut a piece of thicker fabric, and simply hot-glued it onto the back (over the stitching). I then hot-glued the clip onto the fabric, and then quickly realized that the hot glue went through that gap in the clip, so I covered it with another piece of fabric…so this is what it looks like in the back:
Once the glue cools…you’re ready to wear it! I will be honest…I high-lited my hair last night, so I didn’t take a shower this morning…which is why my hair is up, messy, with a braid. This is a very quick and easy hairstyle…and it can look messy…and the flower is my attempt to make it look intentional 😉
Since my hair wasn’t really camera-ready, I posed my new clip next to my cloche and in my spring vignette too 🙂
…and we’re back to the messy and un-washed hair:
It made me feel pretty and spring-y…I forsee many of these in my future 🙂
Have you added pretty spring embellishments to your hair yet?!
