As much as I love a good glass of wine (and I truly do love a good glass of wine), if it’s for a get-together, I love to make a good mixed drink.
I was getting a group of girlfriends together the other week, and I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to make mimosas or sangria. Then I had a totally crazy idea – why not make a combination of the two?!
I’m sure it’s totally against the rules, and the true wine experts are probably cringing right now, but you know what? It tasted pretty darn good!
I used Santa Margherita wine to make this recipe (I used the Pinot Grigio- I saved the Merlot for a steak dinner with my husband on Valentine’s Day weekend!). Although I used it for this recipe, Santa Margherita’s Pinot Grigio is really perfect to be sipped on it’s own.
PS – Santa Margherita USA wines? They taste soooo good!
So if you’re looking for a great Sunday brunch drink, try this out! It’s simple, easy to make, and tastes delicious.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Equal parts white wine & orange juice
- Seltzer water (not flavored)
- Seasonal fruit
- I used oranges, grapes, lemons & limes
- You could also add pears, apples, berries, pineapple, or other fruit you love!
- Sugar (optional)
Mix the orange juice & white wine. Add fruit and 1-2 TBSP of sugar to taste (this step is optional). Chill for at least an hour. When you’re getting ready to serve, add a splash of seltzer water to carbonate the drink.
I paired this with quiche, and it was the perfect Sunday brunch!
