When we were putting the finishing touches on our kitchen makeover, I realized we had a big “hole” to the right of our open shelving. I also realized we couldn’t put anything on the wall there that would stick out too far, because it’s where the bathroom door opened.
How to paint a wood sign:
I searched around our local antique and thrift stores for a one of a kind sign for that space, but I didn’t find anything! They either were the wrong size, weren’t cute, or were way too expensive.
I took matters into my own hands and decided to make one myself. I used this technique – it’s SO simple. All you’ll need is a printer, paper, a ballpoint pen, wood & paint.
I used a plywood sheet from my local hardware store. I had them cut it down to the exact size I wanted, stained it (this is the color/brand I used), and then painted it once the stain dried. I was actually pretty pregnant with Nora when I did this – it was relaxing to sit out on the porch and paint last spring!
