I just LOVE Christmas decorating! I’m staying at my parent’s house while our kitchen floors get redone (I can’t wait to share all of that with you guys – soon!! Follow me on Instagram for some updates…). While I was staying at her house I was just itching to decorate for Christmas, so we decided that would be my “payment” for staying at their house for a few days!
I seriously love how this mantel turned out! I think the sparkly paper chain really makes it even more special.
I wanted to make it silver, gold, and sparkly, but not tacky. I hope that was accomplished! On the left side:
I used a yarn-wrapped tree from last year’s mantel. We wrapped an empty box with some glittery wrapping paper and filled some glass containers with glittery pinecones (from the craft store) and ornaments from the dollar store. Easy and thrifty! The mercury glass vases were leftover from my cousin’s wedding centerpieces. And I LOVE that little tree – I got it for less than $5 on sale at Michaels! I think I’m going to have to go back and get one for myself…
We left the pinecone wreath on the mirror – I am seriously in love with this wreath. I also love that I got it for $1.
On the right side I just reused some of the painted branches I still have around from these Christmas centerpieces:
And I just filled the middle with a mix of silver, gold, and regular pinecones. I was going to paint some myself, but they were $2.99 a bag at Michaels, and I figured that was cheap enough to not deal with paint. SO glad I did that. Sometimes it’s just not worth it to DIY – and this was one of those times!
I think this mantel is SO cute – and will not be inappropriate to leave up all winter. Win win win!
Do you stick to the classic red and green Christmas decorations? Would you be willing to branch out into silver and gold?

You know I follow your blog really well when I saw your post on facebook or somewhere saying you had decorated your mantel and I was like “that’s not her mantel that’s her mothers” hahahaha 🙂 it looks great! That wreath is awesome you got it for such a steal!
