Does it feel like SPRING by you yet?! I am starting to feel the beginnings of spring, and I’m LOVING it! I finally got inspired to make a spring mantle, and I’m LOVING the color it brings into our house!
Isn’t it cheerful? Here’s the mantle broken down:
I am loving the look of stacked empty frames lately, so I tried it. The frame on the left was on hand (I actually used it for the Valentines Subway Art in February). The other two frames were bought for 50 cents each at a local thrift store. I just gave them one coat each of spray paint – I wanted to let the wood show through to give a vintage-y feel. I also scuffed them with some sandpaper once I put a light coat of spray paint on them.
I took two old books and covered them with fabric. The fabric actually belonged to my husband’s late grandmother – so there’s a little bit of history there
The sweet little bird was leftover from last year’s vignette (originally from Michael’s) The bottle was a thrift store find, as well as all of the mason jars. I coated some of them with paint like I did in this post.
Of course it isn’t spring without FLOWERS! I love these sweet tulips I bought at the grocery store, as well as the daffodil buds. I can’t wait until those bloom – I’ll have to post an updated picture for you!
I am just LOVING spring – and my new fresh mantle! I think I need to make sure I have cut flowers in my house every week throughout the spring/summer – it just makes a world of difference!

Beautiful mantel! It’s a combination of a few of my favourite things – books, vintage bottles and spring flowers. The layered frames are a fun, fresh touch (and I can’t believe that one coat of spray paint made them look that gorgeous!)
All the best,
Claire

Oh… the jars that look frosted, did you do that too or did they come that way? If you did, how did you achieve that look? I LOVE the jars!! 😀
