Come on in and see our vintage inspired cozy family room with tall picture frame molding walls. Affiliate links included – full disclosure here.
We’re mostly done with our mini makeover and I just couldn’t wait to share it with you! We literally ran out of trim by ONE small piece on the other side of the room, so I’m just going to share part of the room for today, and I’ll update this post later with pictures from the other side.
I talked about all of the design plans for the family room in this post. We added some picture frame molding to the walls, painted them, and added some new decor pieces.
Tall picture frame molding:
This picture frame molding has my heart! Look at the difference it made in here:
It adds sophistication, and character. I also think it adds a little vintage nod, which is exactly what I was hoping for!
I will get a post out in the next few days with exactly how we installed it! Coming soon!
One of the things I was a little nervous about was how it would transition between the paint colors. We have the color Sherwin Willams “Retreat” in our living room, and the walls join together at the corner. I actually think this is a smoother transition than the white we previously had, so that’s a relief too!
Other details in our cozy family room:
I haven’t decided if I’m going to paint the entertainment center yet, so for now it’s staying wood. I can always paint later!
We plan to get a new rug soon, but we’re not quite ready to purchase one yet. I have also been on the lookout for a vintage lamp for the glass table between the recliners – no luck yet. But with secondhand finds it’s always important to give it time & be patient, so that’s what I’m doing.
I do LOVE these new curtains I got on Amazon! They’re beautiful, nice quality, and lined. I have one panel on each side – I’m really happy with them!
We had one of these recliners from back in 2019, and we purchased a second one for this makeover.
If you’re looking for an affordable and pretty recliner, I really do recommend these. We’ve had the one on the right for 3 years now and it still is in great shape. For the price, you really can’t beat it!

You seriously have a magical vision! The details really stand out. I love how the molding makes the walls look taller, and the paint color transitions at the corner are **chef’s kiss**👩🍳💋!!
