A great source for affordable kitchen design elements. Lots of choices for products to include in a farmhouse inspired kitchen remodel on a budget.
It’s been almost two years since we remodeled our kitchen. It was one of the biggest makeovers we’ve ever done, and we learned a LOT. It’s really hard to stick to a budget when you’re remodeling a kitchen, so it’s important to find ways to save money all throughout the process. I’ve teamed up with Lowe’s to bring you some beautiful and affordable kitchen design elements.
Budget friendly farmhouse kitchen design elements:
Even if you’re not doing a full kitchen remodel, these products and ideas can be used for a quick refresh of your space. Some new lighting and paint can go such a long way, and if you use these picks, they can be really budget friendly as well.

Farmhouse kitchen pendants:
Lighting is probably one of the easiest ways to change the look and feel of your space. These pendants would look great over your kitchen island, or over your sink.
I also love a classic schoolhouse light pendant in a kitchen. I have one in our upstairs hallway and I love it so much! Click here to see my design advice for this kind of classic light fixture, or shop my favorite picks here:
A beautiful faucet:
Trade out your builder grade faucet and upgrade with one of these picks. Don’t worry about matching metal with what’s already in your kitchen – the “matchy-matchy” look is being replaced with a collected feel. I personally love our high arc kitchen faucet – so that’s why I chose so many of them!
We recently upgraded our kitchen faucet and LOVE how it looks (and works – it’s crazy unique and we love it!) Click here to see more of it and how it works.
A statement farmhouse sink:
A farmhouse sink was one of my favorite splurges for our kitchen. We LOVE our copper sink against our white cabinets, but a big white farmhouse sink is so classic and charming. If you’d like a more industrial feel, stainless farmhouse sinks are really popular right now too!
You can see more of our copper farmhouse kitchen sink here – and hear what we have to think of it after we’ve lived with it for three years:
Farmhouse inspired kitchen islands:
If you have an open space in the middle of your kitchen, and you’re looking to add storage and counter space, consider adding one of these kitchen islands. It’ll be a big upgrade to your space for a much lower price point than custom cabinetry. Again, don’t worry about matching your cabinets. Adding a contrasting island would be a big design statement in your kitchen!
Our kitchen island is HUGE and isn’t something you can buy in stores, but you can see the process and more about our leathered granite counter tops in this post here:
Add interest with a sliding barn door:
We love our barn door in our kitchen, and it frees up valuable space since we don’t have to worry about the door swing. I shared how we made our own barn door from a thrift store door here, but the hardware can get really expensive (and a pain to attach to the door). These barn doors all come with the required hardware, which really helps with the overall cost! This is definitely one of my favorite affordable kitchen design elements to add loads of character to your space.
So whether you’re looking for a simple refresh or a complete overhaul, make sure you check out my suggestions above for an affordable kitchen design that also looks incredible!

So many fun ideas! I’ve been itching to re-do our kitchen, but it’ll have to wait another year or two. Definitely going to keep this in mind for when I finally get started!
Lots of great options! Love the copper sink.
this is perfect timing as we are just planning a full kitchen remodel in the next few months! Love all the choices – especially those farmhouse sinks!
