Farmhouse deals:
I am *loving* this fern I bought the other week – perfect for year-round greenery and for anyone else who has a black thumb (like me)!
I also LOVE my arched window frame – there’s so many options for colors/shapes – you guys will love this shop!
These vases are so sweet and are perfect for those upcoming spring/summer blooms:
We really LOVE our runner. It’s a great price point, and we love it in our downstairs hallway and our upstairs one as well. It’s surprisingly good at hiding dirt and it’s held up really well after 2.5 years. Find it here (and see how good the price is!)
Favorite inspiration:
My friend Jenn has the most incredible home – but her kitchen is my favorite room by far. I can never get over the fact that she has an actual (functional) fireplace in her kitchen!! Follow her on Instagram here:
This “mudroom” is perfect in every way. It’s got beautiful and functional storage, but then just puts it over the top with that Dutch door. I love every inch!
Favorite design tip:
Add interest to your bookshelves by adding a contrasting color to the backs of the bookshelves. I personally love a deep and rich navy backed bookshelf (like we did in our office – see that makeover here)
This bookcase from Remodelista shows how it’s done beautifully:
Our family:
We seem to *finally* be back in routine this week and it feels SO GOOD.
I got to finish the rest of my 20 week anatomy scan this week – little stinker didn’t let us get a read on his/her heart last time. So at 22 weeks we got to see this sweet little baby’s face through ultrasound again, and my husband got to come too! What a blessing – I get more amazed with every child of how big of a miracle pregnancy truly is.
We celebrated Valentine’s Day with a dinner out a few days ago and got to spend Valentine’s Day with our little family. Man, I’m not a big celebrator of this holiday but the kids have truly softened my heart! They are SO excited with the littlest things lately, and have been working hard on making Valentines for their family/friends all week. It’s kind of adorable!
The bump size basically doubles at night ?
Also – I’m going to put a little PSA out there. Please, please PLEASE don’t use pregnancy as an excuse to comment on a woman’s body. It’s just never kind. I’m on my third kid and I have a super short torso – so it’s all going to show. I feel pretty good about myself because I’m on such a strict diet that I’ve only gained 8 pounds in 23 weeks. BUT the comments I get from people make me feel like I’m an actual elephant walking through the grocery store aisles. Yes, I’ve still got months to go. Yes, my baby is perfectly healthy and measuring right on time. Yep – it’s going to get a WHOLE lot bigger. No, it’s not twins. No – it’s not any of your business.
OK, rant over. Here’s a helpful article that gives you some ideas of what to say instead if you feel like commenting on a pregnant woman’s size.
What we’re eating:
So – speaking of weight and diets 😉 Here’s the healthy meals we’re eating this week. Again, I have gestational diabetes for the third time, and even though I’m needing insulin at night, I’m working my hardest to have a healthy diet to control what I can.
One Skillet Chicken with bacon & green beans: A nice easy weekday meal! We used diced pancetta to make it even easier and it was really good.
Quinoa pizza bowls: So we made this into a “quinoa pizza bake” instead of individual bowls. We put the ingredients into a casserole dish – I used mushrooms, peppers, broccoli & cauliflower as our veggies, and then added some rotisserie chicken on top to increase the protein.
Mini Salsa Turkey Meatloaves: We’ve loved these for a while now! I made them into hearts for a Valentine’s Day dinner – a little sad that I couldn’t have sweet treats, but the kids thought this was so fun! I added some spinach but otherwise didn’t change the recipe. My kids LOVE meatloaf so much! We ate with a side of cauliflower rice and edamame.
“Clean out the fridge” pasta sauce: No real recipe here! We sauteed onions, garlic, peppers, mushrooms, spinach and chicken in a pot, then added a can of tomato sauce and a can of coconut milk. We saved the coconut cream to whip and put on top of berries – SO good! We put it over this pasta – a much better option for me, but really for everyone! It’s made out of chick peas and the glycemic index is much lower than regular pasta.

Well not sure what they see. But you are a very beautiful pregnant young lady. Some of the worst criticism comes from those not so beautiful women. Women should never criticize another woman’s looks. It’s also not setting a example for our beautiful young daughters that one day might have a weight, skin or hair problem. Love your blog.

so sweet of you, Terrie! I agree – it’s hard to raise daughters in today’s world! I’m going to do my best to promote a positive body image for my daughter because there’s soooo much body shaming in our culture 🙁
