Our bathroom renovation is coming along! This week’s update is all about bathroom flooring, shiplap walls, and paint options.
It’s been a busy week over here – we’ve been getting a lot done! But as things get done, I keep adding new things to my to-do list.
Here’s our bathroom this week:
We got shiplap up on our biggest wall! So exciting! I got to prime it, but can’t wait until I can paint it too:
The space where you see drywall up there? That’s where our vanities will go. They get installed early next week!
We also got our flooring down – it was really simple and I am really glad we chose a product we already knew we loved. We used it in our first kitchen, current kitchen, and our half bath downstairs. You can see more about luxury vinyl tile in my post here.
Also – we started putting our wood planked ceiling up! So exciting!
This view from our hallway is looking a whole lot better these days – I can’t wait to share the transformation of this space so soon!
In other news – I am going to be painting the area over the shiplap in our little bath nook. I’d love color recommendations! I’d really love to go for a moody green instead of a blue-ish tone. Which one would you pick? Our American Standard soaker tub is going in under this dark paint – I can’t WAIT!
In other news – we got our shower pan started (our contractor is doing this job, so I have zero expertise in this area & can’t answer questions – sorry!)
I’m so happy with what we got done this week, but we have a lot more to do! Here’s what I’m hoping to get done:
- finish the shiplap
- paint the shiplap
- paint the area over the bathtub
- get our vanities & lighting installed
- begin tiling the shower

Yay it’s looking so good! So much progress this week!
Thanks Bre! We have so much more to do – but it seems little more realistic this week than it did last week 😉 Off to check out your bathroom progress now! 🙂
Wonderful progress! Love your plan. Looking forward to seeing more! Susie from The Chelsea Project
Thanks so much, Susie!! We’ve got a lot to do, but we’re getting closer! 🙂
It is looking awesome! I can’t wait to see the finished room – especially that ceiling.
Thanks so much Carrie! We were just working on the ceiling again tonight – looking so good! 🙂
Great progress so far! Not sure what the colours look like in person, but #3 is my choice. It looks like it has a good coverage (compared to #4) and seems more neutral. Good luck!
Thanks so much, Nicole! Yes, #4’s coverage was pretty crummy :/
Christina, I need some guidance with a paint choice. We’re building a small vacation cabin in northern KY. The living/kitchen/dining area is one large room with a ship lap cathedral ceiling. I plan on using ship lap on the interior of the exterior walls and then using sheet rock on the rest of the interior walls. I want to use a white on the walls and the cathedral ceiling too but I’m concerned that using the same white on everything will be just TOO white. There’s a definite breaking point between the walls and the ceiling. What do you recommend?
