I’m not sure how it happened, but I seemed to have blinked, and Nora is turning ONE next month. It’s unreal! Maybe it’s because we’ve been fixing up our house alllll year, or maybe it’s just because we’re busy with two little kids now, but I still can’t believe how fast this past year has gone.
We’re not doing a big party for Nora (#secondchildproblems) because honestly, I don’t have the energy for it! But we’ll have some family over and let her eat some cake and take some pictures for her big day. Here’s our simple first birthday picture decorations:
I heard Hershey was selling special birthday candies at Walmart, so Nora & I headed out to find something fun. We picked up some Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures (absolutely my favorite) and I got to creating a super simple but fun backdrop for her one year old pictures.
By the way – the special Birthday parties with Hershey section at WalMart is with the party supplies – not the candy.
If you want to use all of the colors, go ahead! I wanted to just use the gold, so I separated them all out and gathered my supplies.
Yes, that’s a needle and thread. Don’t leave! It’s totally weird, but you will thread the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures onto your thread. I know, I know. But trust me – it will look super cute! I tried just tying it onto the end of the string and it didn’t work out so well, so this is a much better option.
You’ll need your candy, a needle, thread, and removable mini hooks for this project. Simply thread your Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures onto the thread, tie a knot, and hang it up on the ceiling. We staggered the hooks and the lengths of the strings to make it a little more interesting – here’s what it looks like from directly underneath:
And you’re done! Simple, thrifty, and adorable for a birthday backdrop:
She loved looking at them (and trying to swing at them). It was adorable! Her face lit up every time she turned around!
